A dreamy Naples, eternally divided between tradition, modernity and future, a paradigm of modern society, will be the one told with biting irony, visionary imagination and skillful use of the Neapolitan language by the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Tommaso Primo, who will be the protagonist of the next live concert scheduled for Thursday 11 July 2019 (21 pm) at Le Lune Wine Music (Pompei, via Lepanto 176) as part of the summer festival “Note sotto Le Lune”.
Born in Naples on June 17, 1990, Tommaso Primo began writing songs at the age of 13, preferring the use of the Neapolitan language. In 2011 he released his first single, “Canzone a Carmela”, produced by Luciano Liguori, voice and bass of “Il Giardino dei semplici”. It was in 2013, however, that with the song “Gioia”, a duet with the Senegalese singer-songwriter and poet Ismael, he entered the panorama of emerging music from Campania. In the same year he released his first EP, “Posillipo Interno 3”, produced by Oscar Montalbano. In November 2015 his first album “Fate, Sirene e Samurai” was released, produced by the labels Full Heads and Arealive. “3103” is instead from a year ago, the album of Tommaso Primo's turning point: a “science fiction” album, in which the singer-songwriter, while still telling (in Neapolitan) of an imaginary future, puts political and social analysis at the center of the message. The CD deals with broader themes, such as the future of the planet, consumerism and environmental protection: ironic on the clichés of modern society, decisive in the ecological message, fierce in the criticism of power. The sound is inspired by the American soul tradition with tropicalist nuances and r'n'b and rap grafts, all seasoned with a vintage sound that pays homage to the '70s and '80s. Emblematic of the album is the song “Cassiopea”, which tells of a planet Earth in 3103 now reduced to collapse and preparing for evacuation; the author tells us about a humanity that is preparing to leave its home forever, in search of a new place where it can continue its existence: "Space emigrants aboard a spaceship, disoriented and scared towards the unknown, each with their own story but all, for the first time, with a single destiny".
