An international delegation from the Universiade has arrived on the Sorrento Peninsula to admire the beauty of the coast, thanks to an itinerary promoted by the Campania Region's Department of Tourism, headed by Corrado Matera. Here are the names of the international members who officially arrived in Piano di Sorrento from Russia, Finland, and Australia: Denis Branchukov (Deputy Director General, Russia), Iuliia Bezsalova (First Deputy Director General, Russia), Stella Alekseeva (Deputy Director General, Russia), Tatiana Fomintseva (Deputy Director General, Russia), Maxim Urazov (Director General, Russia), Kallio Tapio (Member of the International Medical Committee, Finland), Greta Bonanno (Kallio's Attaché), Doulton Hilary (Executive Committee, Australia), and Dinia Sotiriadis (General Coordinator). The "Penisola Sorrentina Arturo Esposito" Award will act as a liaison with the Campania Region's Tourism Districts System, which oversees and organizes the stay of the international committee members. After a morning excursion to Sorrento organized by the Tourist Board, the delegation stopped at the village of Marina di Cassano in Piano di Sorrento, which has also been awarded the Blue Flag for 2019. The delegation of young athletes and managers was welcomed by the city's mayor, Vincenzo Iaccarino: "A wonderful opportunity, following the raising of the Blue Flag," he commented, "to welcome these representatives of the international sporting event and introduce them to the charm of our seaside village. The Universiade also provides an opportunity to introduce visitors and athletes from around the world to the beauty of Campania." The group also visited the seaside village of Piano di Sorrento, a vibrant center of an economy rooted in maritime and food and wine traditions. The delegation admired an ancient limoncello factory in the Cassano caves and then immersed themselves in a typical tasting.
