"As mayor of Naples, I welcome all the athletes to this beautiful stadium, but above all, I welcome all of you to the city of a thousand colors, of sport, of young people, of peace, of hospitality, of love." These were the words of Naples Mayor Luigi de Magistris, at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Naples Universiade, kicking off at the San Paolo Stadium. "My wish, and the wish of all Neapolitans," he added, "is that you may spend some very emotional days in our city. Welcome all of you," he concluded, "a hug from NAPLES, boys." The mayor was greeted by whistles from the stands of the San Paolo, which were then drowned out by applause.
