Naples. “Several citizens have reported to us the spillage of chemical solvents and paints in a manhole located in Piazza Carità, in the very center of Naples. This spillage has ruined the pavement of the square, in addition to obviously causing environmental damage. In fact, the substance that was spilled is destined to end up in the sewer system, ending its journey in the sea. From this shameful and profoundly criminal act, the marine pollution phenomena that we continually denounce arise.” This is what regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli said. “Unfortunately,” Borrelli added, “such incidents are absolutely not isolated, indeed they are normal for many dishonest people who have no qualms about causing significant damage to the environment in which they themselves live. We have reported the incident that occurred in Piazza Carità to the municipal police. We sincerely hope that it will be possible to trace the perpetrators of the spillage. Criminals of this kind must be severely punished.”
