Vittorio Ponticelli, an 82-year-old from Cercola already known to the police, was arrested for possession of contraband tobacco by the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco radiomobile unit. The elderly man was noticed on the street in Cercola with a duffel bag on his shoulder and checked: in the bag he was carrying 40 packs of cigarettes without the state monopolies stamp.
The search was then extended to his home. In fact, in the laundry room and in a closet there was the rest: 13,4 kilos of contraband cigarettes. In total, 13,8 were seized. The man was arrested and placed under house arrest.
During the same checks aimed at preventing common crimes, in Cercola and Volla, the Carabinieri contested 17 traffic violations for vehicles not covered by insurance or not inspected and driving without a helmet, subjecting 9 cars and scooters to detention or seizure.
Stolen cars: Cercola money laundering operation dismantled
Naples – The Carabinieri raid began at dawn today, dealing a lasting blow to a ring dedicated to laundering stolen vehicles. On behalf of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, officers from the Cercola branch and the Torre del Greco branch executed a house arrest warrant against two men, aged 45 and 31, respectively. The Origin of the Investigation The investigation began in November of last year. It all began with a report of a stolen vehicle, which led officers to almost immediately identify a first suspect intent on physically tampering with the chassis of several vehicles. From that initial arrest, investigators uncovered a much larger and more complex network. A "Well-Structured System" The investigation, coordinated by the 7th Section of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, has shed light on a veritable criminal network. These were not isolated incidents, but rather systematic activity: cars were stolen, their identifying elements (such as the numbers…
Cercola, uncle and nephew arrested for cocaine dealing
CERCOLA. A family-run drug dealing operation has been busted by Carabinieri officers from the Cercola station, in the province of Naples. An uncle and his nephew, aged 50 and 42, respectively, both already known to law enforcement, were arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Officers stopped them during a drug bust while they were traveling in a Fiat Panda. The search led to the discovery of seven doses of cocaine, ready for sale, hidden in the car. The operation was then extended to the couple's home, where Carabinieri seized an additional 57,2 grams of cocaine, drug packaging materials, and approximately €500 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. Following the operation, the uncle and nephew were placed under house arrest and are now awaiting trial.
Cercola, parents arrested: Firecrackers prohibited in cars with their 2- and 10-year-old children
Cercola – A family car transformed into a death trap: Carabinieri officers from the Cercola station arrested Domenico Paone, 40, and Giuseppina Borriello, 38, both known to law enforcement, overnight. They were caught behind the wheel with two young children—aged 2 and 10—and a load of potentially devastating illegal fireworks. The fatal checkpoint: one that saved lives. During a routine traffic stop on Via Cupa del Cavallo, officers stopped a Fiat Panda carrying what appeared to be an ordinary family. But the Carabinieri's expert eye immediately spotted the anomaly: in the trunk, cleverly hidden but clearly visible due to their size and the pungent smell of gunpowder, were 29 "Cobra" and "Cipolle" explosive devices. The total weight? Over 2,5 kilograms of high-density pyrotechnic mixture, a quantity equivalent to a homemade explosive charge. Paone, with a prior history of property crimes, was jailed in Poggioreale. Borriello, under house arrest for similar reasons, was returned to her home on aggravated charges of possession of…
