Paestum returns to take to the skies with the 2019 edition of the International Hot Air Balloon Festival, which will be held from September 28th to October 6th. The event, organized by the Vivere Paestum association, together with the municipality of Capaccio Paestum, has now reached its eleventh edition, and is an unmissable event at the beginning of autumn dedicated to those who love flying but also to those who prefer to admire with their noses in the air the beautiful and colorful hot air balloons that soar in the air. The event covers a large area – approximately 30.000 square meters – which hosts hot air balloons, kites, street artists, inflatables for children and a large green space. From the top of the hot air balloons the view of the archaeological area of Paestum is breathtaking: from the balloons the view of the temples is an unforgettable event. The festival, organized by Michele Tuorlo, is the largest event of its kind in Southern Europe and sees the participation of Italian and European hot air balloons and crews. There are two types of flight experiences: tethered flight – on hot air balloons that rise up to a height of 25 metres – or free flight which lasts about half an hour. Here is the program in detail.
