The 20th edition of “La Macenata” is underway, a food and wine festival scheduled in Paternopoli (Avellino) on September 21 and 15, which celebrates one of the oldest local traditions, interpreting it in a modern way, namely the ancient ritual of pressing grapes with the feet through the characteristic dance inside the vat full of grapes. A fascinating dance, capable of captivating and involving any audience. The event will kick off on September XNUMX with the “Enotour”, in which participants will take part in a rich breakfast that will offer the foods and drinks that, traditionally, were consumed by farmers before going down to the vineyard and facing the tiring days of harvesting. Following, a guided tour of the cellars of Paternopoli.

On September 21st, “Irpinia Express”, a new tourist itinerary that will start from Benevento and end in Paternopoli, by vintage railcars. The tour will allow you to easily reach the Wine Valley by train, a name recently coined by the president of the FS Foundation, Mauro Moretti, in order to identify and learn about the territories characterized by high-quality wine production.

One of the substantial novelties of the current edition is the theme promoted by the event: the valorization of artisanal activity, understood as an individual, social and collective creative act. The event will host three artisans, a marble worker, a carpenter and a blacksmith, who, over the course of the two days, will perform demonstrations open to the public, in which they will show the working processes of their respective materials. In addition, artistic exhibitions are planned, which will present the works of local artists in order to promote indigenous artistic creation in its various variants. During the festival, creative workshops for children and workshop activities for students will also be organized, to be carried out together with the participating artisans.

In addition, rich tastings and musical performances, immersed in the magical atmosphere of the event. In addition, in the context of territorial marketing, a promotional campaign has been created with the aim of enhancing the territory and those who are part of it, emphasizing the imprint of artisans and wine producers, in order to bring together two different forms of creation: the artistic and artisanal one and that of wine. During the events, promotional videos will be shown to communicate and raise awareness among tourists of our territory.

Wine, the true protagonist of the event, needs to increase its position in a market where demand is constantly growing in Italy and abroad. Therefore, the goal will be to promote territorial excellence by making tourists aware of a rich and flourishing territory. The 2019 edition, in which exhibitors, artists, and 10 companies including wineries, restaurateurs and producers take part, will involve a territory that is increasingly developing from the food and wine and tourism point of view.

“La Macenata”, therefore, consolidates itself as an event aimed at valorizing the wine, gastronomic and artistic excellence present in the Irpinia territory, representing not only a unique event but also a rare opportunity to rediscover our cultural memory and feel once again that we belong to it.
