The Tarquinia physiotherapist arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault and continued abuse of a child has been suspended. The Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital announced this in a statement after "learning with dismay the news of the extremely serious crime reported against one of its employees, a physiotherapist at our branch in Santa Marinella." "We are shocked and saddened that something like this could have happened, and our first thoughts of sympathy and solidarity go to the child and her family. Based on the limited information available, and without prejudice to the necessary investigations underway by the investigating authorities, these are alleged to be extremely serious offenses committed outside the hospital, during a private home rehabilitation program prohibited by internal regulations," the statement reads. "The hospital, having learned of the facts from the judicial authorities, obviously immediately provided full cooperation, and the employee was immediately suspended from work, pending the outcome of the investigation. Deeply saddened by this unfortunate event, we place our trust in the diligent and scrupulous work of the judiciary and continue with even greater determination our daily care for the children and their families," concludes the statement from the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital.
