In an era where human relationships are increasingly scarce and virtual, investigating that subtle boundary between man and machine, so explored at the end of the nineteenth century and again at the beginning of the last century, seems to be a still current activity. It is from this reflection that the idea of Andrea Cioffi and Sara Guardascione for the show SA Senso Artificiale was born, the winning project of the first edition of Nuove Sensibilità 2.0, which will debut, in world premiere, on Saturday 28 September 2019 at 21.00:29 pm (repeated on Sunday XNUMX) at the Teatro Nuovo in Naples.
Presented by Il Demiurgo srls in collaboration with Teatro Pubblico Campano, the production will feature Alessandro Balletta, Andrea Cioffi, Gabriele Formato, Sara Guardascione, Luigi Leone and the voice of Franco Nappi, directed by Andrea Cioffi, who also signs the dramaturgy.
SA is a dialogue, but also a confession, between a man who was not able to love and be loved enough, and who programmed an artificial woman capable of understanding him and making herself understood: Sofia.
What Sofia is is not known for certain. She looks like a woman, one in particular, but she waits for orders to do anything. In the meantime, however, she is immobile like an object, which indeed she is, although she appears to be human in every way.
The engineer tries to interact with her. He created her to fill a void of empathy, to have someone to love again, but he is not satisfied. She seems flawed, she is detached and he does not know how to fix her, nor does his assistant know how to help.
Approaching her as a woman, she escapes any mechanical rationality, which makes her incomprehensible to her own creator. As a machine, however, she denies any human sensitivity, any empathy, thus making herself distant from those who interface with her.
When other machines enter the scene, the misunderstanding extends to every relationship. Intolerances, closures, judgments arise in the protagonist, underlining not so much the inability to decipher the mechanical signals, but the inability to change one's point of view to welcome the other.
SA aims to translate into theatrical language all the communication difficulties that belong to our cybernetic generation. The concept of love and dependence, more connected than ever today, the presumption of knowledge and understanding, the doubts about the genuineness of a thought or a soul, the increasingly intolerant social and political sense, give life to a dialogue between a man and a woman, similar and distant, bringing them closer, almost touching each other, without managing, however, to "meet".
The show will be performed on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September.
Shows start at 21.00 pm (Saturday), 18.30 pm (Sunday), single seat €10.
