“The Fiom Festival of Naples starts tomorrow in Pomigliano D'Arco. Four days of meetings, debates, music and shows, from 12 to 15 September at the Giovanni Paolo II Public Park in via Passariello in Pomigliano D'Arco”. This is what we read in a note issued this morning by the Fiom-Cgil press office. “It is the first time that, thanks to the voluntary work of delegates and members, the Fiom of Naples is holding its first provincial festival in Pomigliano D'Arco, a symbolic place of strong settlement of metalworkers, pursuing the project of bringing the union back to the territories and contributing to strengthening the protections of legality – declared Rosario Rappa, general secretary of Fiom-Cgil Naples – This is the Fiom that together with the Cgil is developing a new union model that returns to the origins in innovative forms to re-establish direct connection with workers, the unemployed, young people and pensioners, outside and inside the factories. The Festival is also this, a way of being together, and at the same time discussing, reflecting and having fun”. “During the four days, an exhibition on Resistance and anti-fascism will be set up – added Rappa – On the one hand, there are corporate crises with all the suffering that these cause for workers, their families and the social fabric and the need to build bonds of solidarity between people; on the other, there is the opportunity to redesign another economic, industrial and social model that puts the South back at the centre, starting from its potential and the need for a negotiation that is able to redistribute to workers the rights and wage shares that we have lost in recent years”.
