The exhibition 'Pompei beyond the walls' is starting at MATT. The inauguration is tomorrow, September 19th

Everything is ready for the inauguration of the Archaeological Exhibition “Pompeii beyond the walls – the villas of Terzigno in the shadow of Vesuvius”, scheduled for September 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., set up at the MATT – Terzigno Territorial Archaeological Museum in Corso Luigi Einaudi.
The exhibition, in the unique renovated building of the former municipal slaughterhouse, will display archaeological finds from Roman villas discovered in the Ranieri quarry area in Terzigno, buried by the great eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD: parts of frescoed walls and finds discovered in the villas called “Villa 1”, “Villa 2” and “Villa 6” which came to light during the various excavation campaigns and were restored.
During the opening hours this weekend, you can also admire the painting of the Lararium, found in the kitchen area of ​​“Villa 6”, with the representation of the two Lares and the sacrificing Genius and with the depiction of two snakes approaching a plate of offerings. From next Monday, the fresco will be hosted, for a few months, in another important exhibition in Rome. From Monday 23 September, however, the Exhibition will be open to the public at different times (info on www.museomatt.it).
In addition to the mayor of Terzigno, Francesco Ranieri, and the councilor for Culture, Genny Falciano, the event will also be attended by the general director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Massimo Osanna, the general director of the Great Pompeii Project, Mauro Cipolletta, the president of the Vesuvius National Park, Agostino Casillo, representatives of the Mibac and other institutions of the territory.
The event program, starting at 11 am, includes some institutional interventions, a laboratory activity on art and archaeology for school students and will continue with the official opening of the Exhibition to guests and visitors. From 19,00 pm you can visit the Museum, which will remain open until 23,00 pm and watch the national live broadcast of Radio Kiss Kiss Italia which will broadcast music, news and insights on the Exhibition from the Matt in Terzigno. From 22,00 pm a DJ set will be organized, again with Radio Kiss Kiss Italia, outside the MATT. Many young people are expected at the event who, in addition to the cultural visit to the Museum, will be able to listen to music in the new structure in Terzigno, made available to host any form of cultural activity.
