Police in Andria identified the alleged perpetrator of the fatal stabbing of Giovanni Di Vito, the 28-year-old man from Trani who died in hospital following a stabbing on the outskirts of the city around 7:00 PM. The man, a 50-year-old from Andria, was identified overnight. According to investigators' reconstruction, the man stabbed Di Vito in the chest during an argument that broke out over a driver failing to yield to traffic at the roundabout on Via Puccini in Andria. The 28-year-old was taken to the nearby Bonomo Hospital and died that evening. The attack occurred in front of Di Vito's wife and young son, who were in the car with him, and dozens of passers-by. The alleged killer was reportedly identified by police while he was still in his Mercedes. The alleged attacker, a 50-year-old man from Andria already known to police for minor criminal offenses, was held in Trani prison and arrested for the crime. Investigators identified the alleged killer thanks to witness statements and surveillance footage. Flying Squad officers arrested the 50-year-old last night in the same car he had used to flee after stabbing the unfortunate 28-year-old.
