Arzano – Operation against illegal waste dumping: two large landfills seized in via Vittorio Emanuele. The Metropolitan City and the municipality warned. Commander Luigi Maiello: “Critical issues can only be overcome with the collaboration of citizens. For those who fail to comply and are caught dumping waste, the doors of prison could be opened”. The infamous via Vittorio Emanuele, outside the municipal stadium, and the areas below the median axis under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan City ended up in the crosshairs of the local police led by commander Luigi Maiello. Areas that despite being a crossroads and passage of motorists, have become a real open-air landfill over the years. While a further and enormous mass of special waste was discovered in the area and seized by the white helmets during a territorial control service to protect public health. A situation that has now become an emergency, with locals and residents of neighboring municipalities stopping even during the day to throw away garbage bags, special waste, industrial waste and bulky items in bulk and wherever they happen to be, instead of respecting even the minimum rules of good civil living. With the risks associated with the impending emergency of toxic fires, now widespread throughout the Campania Region. In the meantime, the agents continue without stopping in their activity of blanket checks within the territory of competence, inspecting numerous areas. In particular, within the scope of these services, thanks to the profitable info-operational activity and also supported by some informative ideas deriving from the in-depth knowledge of the environment and local reality, in recent weeks they have seized and proceeded with the immediate remediation of the mega-illegal landfill near the Arzano roundabout. The waste was found in an area of several hundred square meters located under the connecting bridge that bypasses the roundabout and connects further on with the so-called "American road" until it reaches the municipalities of Melito and Marano, until it reaches the municipalities of Caserta. At the end of the operations, inside the landfills seized yesterday, the agents found waste of all kinds and piles of garbage scattered throughout the entire area. In particular, wet waste was found (including food sector supplies), ferrous materials, wood, disused electronic materials, asbestos, mattresses, construction waste, industrial waste of all kinds. Obviously, to understand if there is also the presence of any toxic waste, we will have to wait for the expert analyses.
