Avellino's Councilor for Education, Security, and Sports, Giuseppe Giacobbe, was beaten to a pulp shortly after leaving his home. He had just left his home on Via Nazionale Torrette di Mercogliano when two men on a scooter approached him. Without removing their full-face helmets, they first called him by name and threatened him, then began beating him, leaving him stunned on the ground, shouting "You'll learn this way!" as they fled without a trace. The councilor managed to call the Carabinieri and ask for help. A patrol car arrived within minutes, and an ambulance took him to the emergency room at Moscati Hospital in Avellino. Giuseppe Giacobbe was admitted for tests, primarily for a severe blow to his temple and right ear. The Carabinieri of the Avellino provincial command are investigating the incident.
