Naples. French director Benoit Jacquot and Valeria Golino will open the 21st edition of the Naples Film Festival, directed by Mario Violini, on Monday 23 September with a meeting at the Institut Français Napoli in Via Crispi, 86 at 21,15:6,00 pm (Single seat €XNUMX), hosted by journalist and film critic Antonio Fiore. Jacquot will present the Italian preview of his latest film “Dernier Amour” about Giacomo Casanova with Vincent Lindon, Stacy Martin and Valeria Golino in the role of Teresa Cornelys, the first lover of the Venetian adventurer.
The five competitions are underway: for Europe/Mediterranean, the national preview of “Aleksi” will be screened, the debut work of Croatian Barbara Vekaric, which tells the indie story of a millennial in search of a new life away from her family (17,30:16,30 p.m., Institut Français). For Schermo Napoli, the first works of the Short and Doc sub-sections will be judged (from 21:12 p.m. to 5,00 p.m. – Cinema delle Palme, Via Vetriera,4,00). The “Percorsi d'autore” also start with the two retrospectives dedicated to the neorealist director Silvio Siano, with the screening of “Napoli eterna canzone” (16 pm, Institut Français, free entry), introduced by the film historian Paolo Speranza, and to the eclectic Canadian director Xavier Dolan with the screening of his first work “J'ai tuè ma mere” (21 pm, Cinema delle Palme, single seat €5,00 – Reduced €4,00).
The program includes films from the series “Focus 1989-2019: The Fall of the Berlin Wall” with “Sonnenallee” by Leander Haussman, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Neapel (16 pm, Institut Français, free admission), “The Invisibles” with “My Masterpiece” by Gaston Duprat (17 pm, Instituto Cervantes, free admission) and “Space for Authors” with “I Am Gassman! – Vittorio, King of Comedy” by Fabrizio Corallo (18,45 pm, Instituto Cervantes, free admission), introduced by the director.
