The forestry carabinieri of the Cites Nucleus of Naples, supported by personnel from the WWF and ENPA, have reported two people with no criminal record, aged 54 and 35, for poaching.
The military surprised them in the countryside of the municipality of Cancello Arnone, near an artificial pool in the Masseria Riccia Nuova area. Using electronic acoustic decoys that reproduce the sound of animals, the two attracted some ducks to the body of water.
Also fooled by some plastic silhouettes placed on the water, the ducks were shot down with 12-gauge shotguns.
Once identified, the hunters were reported and their equipment seized: 2 hunting rifles, 1 electromagnetic acoustic decoy, 2 acoustic horns to amplify sounds, 1 power battery, 10 meters of electric wire, 18 floating duck-shaped silhouettes and 61 caliber 12 cartridges. According to the reconstruction by the military, 4 specimens were captured and killed illegally.
