Franchising represents one of the “healthiest” sectors of our country’s economy. The numbers speak for themselves: the “Salone Franchising Milano”, the leading fair in Italy, grows every year and according to the latest data from the Assofranchising Italia 2019 Report, all the data is positive, especially for Campania, where there are 4.092 franchised sales outlets that together generate a turnover of almost 2 billion euros in the Region, with an impact on the total of 7,3%.
“Franchising is growing with great margins for development – explains Marco Moretti, President of Fandango Club, a live communication agency that organizes the “Salone Franchising Milano”, at Fieramilanocity from 24 to 26 October – A sector with a strong ability to offer concrete job prospects to everyone, giving the opportunity to develop their commercial activity. In 2018, the Salone recorded an 18% increase in exhibition space and this year too the response from brands continues to be extremely positive also because we give brands the opportunity to establish new commercial relationships, encourage meetings between franchisors and potential franchisees, entrepreneurs interested in developing new businesses following successful formulas”.
Following the constant positive trend that has distinguished it for years, also in 2018 the franchising sector recorded growth data, marking a +2% compared to the previous year, confirming, once again, a strategic investment for those who want to do business by relying on consolidated partners.
As described in the Report of the Main Partner Association of the Salone Franchising Milano 2019, the turnover of the sector in our country is over 25 billion euros and provides work to more than 200 thousand people; from 2014 to today, employed people have grown by 10,9%, points of sale by 8,3% and turnover by 7,8%. The number of affiliated points of sale in Italy (+4,5%) and those in franchising abroad (+7,6%) are also growing.
“The Association carries out intense activity, through conferences and roadshows, in order to promote the meeting between franchisors and potential franchisees, which is the basis of the success of the franchising formula – says Augusto Bandera, general secretary of Assofranchising -. The partnership signed with Salone Franchising Milano aims to celebrate a healthy and rapidly growing sector, in Italy and abroad, where the development of national franchising brands has grown by 10,7% in the last year.
Good franchising is fundamentally based on the key concepts of reliability, strength and credibility – continues Bandera -. We will be present at the Salone with our experts to offer advice to potential entrepreneurs in the sector and provide the necessary tools to open a franchising network or affiliate with a brand”.
The data contained in the latest Report confirm the expansion of franchising in the restaurant world with an increase of 5,5% and 9 new active networks. A sector that ranks third in the franchisor product division (17,9%), with a growth in turnover of 11,6%, exceeding 2,2 billion euros. Service brands are also growing (+8,8%), thanks to the increase in the number of active networks (+19 units), a sector that constitutes 24,6% of the total brands in Italy. Positive trend also for the home sector with an expansion of 6,8% and 47 active networks.
In slight decline, the large-scale retail trade, which in 2018 found the greatest fragility in competitiveness on the franchising market, recording a decrease in the number of active networks equal to 2,3%. Large-scale retail trade, which represents only a small portion of the total franchising system (4,5%), is however the sector that has the greatest impact on total turnover (36%), generating over 9 billion euros.
There was also a slight decline in the clothing sector, an Italian manufacturing excellence, which in 2018 recorded a total of 187 active networks, down 1,1% compared to 2017 (189), of which more than 30% are located in the Nielsen Area 1 North-West. A sector that generates 1,8 billion euros in turnover.
