The sea around Capri is on the verge of enhanced protection. The Senate has unanimously approved the bill establishing a Marine Protected Area around the island, a long-anticipated measure that must now be considered by the Chamber of Deputies for final approval.
The text mandates the Ministry of the Environment to initiate, within six months of the law's entry into force, the technical investigation necessary to delimit and establish the area. This is a key step that will define the perimeter, levels of protection, and methods of use of one of the most famous and fragile stretches of sea in the Mediterranean.
