The recovery of a precious work of art and the desire to continue believing in the touristic development of Castellammare.
After decades of abandonment, the 19th-century nativity scene in the Stabia Concattedrale is brought back to life.
With a considerable financial effort, the entrepreneur Giovanni Irollo restored almost seventy pieces that belonged to the collection of Monsignor Petagna.
On Thursday 19 September (18.30 pm) in the conference room of the Banca Stabiese (Corso Vittorio Emanuele 113) “Il Presepe Stabile Stabiano” will be presented to the press.
The mayor Gaetano Cimmino, the parish priest of the Concattedrale Antonino D'Esposito, Massimiliano Greco, president of the Stabiese Association of art and nativity scene, Giovanni Irollo, sole director of Gidal, the architect Flavio Morvillo, Maurizio Santoro, CEO of Banca Stabiese and the entrepreneur Riccardo Scarselli will participate. The journalist Pierluigi Fiorenza will moderate the conference.
From mid-December the nativity scene will be placed, permanently, inside the Chapter Hall of the Stabia Concathedral.
"This is not a nostalgic operation but rather a practical contribution to the relaunch of Castellammare and to give back to it an important work of art that we risked losing track of. Furthermore, we are convinced that the nativity scene can attract a significant flow of tourists to the city at any time of the year, regardless of Christmas. Our project is only the beginning of an entrepreneurial journey that we would like to carry out in collaboration with the Stabia municipal administration and the Campania Region. Finally, we like to imagine that other operators will follow our example, helping Castellammare to flourish again and return to being a protagonist in the tourist circuit of excellence", say the promoters of the project Presepe Stabile Stabiano in Concattedrale
