Today was the 1st Gran Fondo Campania, a cycling race organized by Francesco Vitiello's Black Panthers association with exceptional testimonials such as Claudio Chiappucci, Francesco Moser and Gilberto Simoni.
The race took place today, September 22, with departure and arrival at Vulcano Buono in Nola where a race and reception village was set up.
It is 120 km of great charm between 24 municipalities and hamlets, with stretches of tiring climbs and breathtaking descents. Along the places where the Sarno River is born and where Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples offer unique views.
The race saw Del Prete Gaetano triumph among the men, Principe Lidia among the women and for the ELMT category Battaglia Vito Angelo, category M1 Sivo Marco, category M2 Del Prete Gaetano, category M3 Leone Vincenzo, category M4 Guida Silvio, category M5 Rossetti Pasquale, category M6 Ranno Antonio, category M7 Adamo Aldo, category M8 Iaccarino Gaetano, category W1 Principe Lidia, category W2 Colasuonno Rosa.

The race also passed through the Municipality of Sarno, which we remember was hit by the tragic fire a few days ago, and once again, together with the police, the Civil Protection and the National Environmental Guard of Sarno lent a hand in organizing the race, demonstrating how important volunteering is in our area.
