Today's children "no longer know how to move", because they are increasingly attracted by the use of TV or
technological and multimedia devices: from this observation Cantaballo was born, the first program of
education in “creative movement” for children. Created by the expert in the field, Rosa Cipriano, the
The exercise program uses singing and dancing to encourage a natural approach to joyful and playful movement in the little ones.
"71% of today's children prefer to spend their free time using digital tools such as tablets, smartphones, PCs, and no longer experience movement," explains Dr. Rosa Cipriano, an expert in creative movement education programs for children, who adds: "We talk about "motor illiteracy" precisely to indicate the serious deficit of today's children, who have difficulty performing even basic movements such as running, jumping, climbing."
"And yet - continues the expert - movement is closely related to cognitive development: by moving the child learns to know himself, improves his ability to relate to others, develops his intelligence. When a body is kept active, the brain also benefits. Movement is not just a sport, in children it is above all free and spontaneous play".
Starting from these premises and through the study of the educational value of dance and music, Rosa Cipriano created Cantaballo: it is the first program of motor exercises for children, sung and danced, which is based on unpublished songs, written and performed by the same.
«Each song – explains the creator of the project – describes a motor path that develops on specific
educational objectives. Singing and creative movement come together to create a complete program of
motor activity for children aged between 4 and 8 years. Thanks to the songs and
Cantaballo exercises, children have a complete educational experience, which allows them to develop basic motor skills, with a playful and fun approach".
Together with Dr. Rosa Cipriano, a scientific committee composed of school directors,
child neuropsychiatrists, university researchers, pediatricians, speech therapists, evaluates and tests the effectiveness of the methodology for the psychomotor development of the child.
In this direction, Dr. Cipriano's studies have aroused interest and found full harmony with the research activities conducted by Prof. Carmen Palumbo, researcher at the Department of Biological Sciences.
Human, Philosophical and Educational/Disuff of the University of Salerno.
«On the Cantaballo.it website – concludes Rosa Cipriano – it is possible to immediately receive free video guides
where I explain simple and effective exercises to do with children. Teachers, dance teachers, early childhood educators, graduates in motor sciences, will be able to learn the complete program by following the online course that allows you to learn the Cantaballo methodology and download the songs.
Cantaballo, however, also has a social purpose. The Cantaballo col cuore program allows children
guests of Institutions, Onlus, Associations, to experience the joy of movement sung and danced. All the information is available on www.cantaballo.it.
