The Nola massacre was the first reprisal of the Nazi army against the Italian army. Eleven Italian officers were shot by former allies in Piazza d'Armi. A massacre that for decades was almost forgotten and that in 1997, thanks to the national association Amici del Marciapiede, with the Ambrosio administration that recognized the just value and sacrifice of the many innocent victims, became an appointment on the city's agenda.
Over the years, the desire of the younger generations to delve deeper into the tragic event has grown. Many city schools, during the school year, thanks also to the commitment of teachers and school principals, organize moments of reflection on the event with essays and documentary films. Over the years, many relatives and children of the victims have been present in Nola at the events organized by the Amici del Marciapiede association and the municipal administration, such as Alberto Liguoro (son of Lieutenant Alberto Pesce, author of an extraordinary true novel “Cronaca dell'eccidio”); Maurizio Forzati, son of Enrico Forzati, gold medal for military valor; Nicola De Pasqua, son of Colonel Michele De Pasqua; Mario De Manuele, nephew of Captain Mario de Manuele; Gino Iacovone, nephew of Lieutenant Gino Iacovone; Umberto Santino, husband of the daughter of Captain Mario De Manuele, author of Strage rimuovere and Ugo Tebaldini, eyewitness to the massacre. On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of that tragic episode, known as the Nola massacre, tomorrow at 12,30:XNUMX the municipal administration led by mayor Gaetano Minieri will lay a laurel wreath at the monument to the Fallen. Citizens are invited to participate.
