The 26th edition of Ethnos, an international ethnic music festival, is coming to a close with the last round of itinerant concerts. The festival, conceived and directed by Gigi Di Luca, which involves eight municipalities in the province of Naples, presents four concerts from 29 to XNUMX September, all with free admission, as well as workshops and nature itineraries.
It starts from Torre Annunziata, Thursday 26 September at 20.30:12 pm at Villa Parnaso (Litoranea Marconi, 16) with the live performance of Cafè Loti, the trio formed by Nando Citarella, Stefano Saletti and Pejman Tadayon. The Italian/Iranian group presents the project “In taberna”: a meeting place, of conviviality, of exchange of experiences and emotions. A work divided symmetrically into two parts. In the first, there are six original songs that constitute a sound bridge between medieval and popular music, between East and West. The second part, instead, takes inspiration from the work done by Cafè Loti to bring back to the origins the spirit of multilingual and multicultural mosaic that animated the tales and stories narrated in the Codex buranus which later took the name of Carmina Burana. In addition to the evening concert, the three musicians will be protagonists from XNUMX pm at the Liceo statale Pitagora – Croce of the workshop “Navigating the routes”, from the Mediterranean to the Orient.
Friday 27 September at 20.30:XNUMX pm at Villa Vannucchi (San Giorgio a Cremano) it's Lúcia de Carvalho's turn. Angolan origins, Portuguese childhood and French adolescence, are the elements that make up her human and artistic experience. A mixed history where African roots coexist, the passion for Brazilian and Portuguese music, but also the encounter with modern sounds such as reggae, funk and pop. Together with Lúcia de Carvalho (vocals, percussion) there will be Edouard Heilbronn (guitar, choir) and Lionel Galonnier (drums, percussion, choir).
On Saturday 28th September the Belvedere dell'Annunziata in Massa Lubrense at 18pm will host the artistic meeting between the Duo Bottasso and Simone Sims Longo. They will present the songs from the project “Biserta e altre storie” live, a project that brings together jazz, contemporary music, electronics and sound research. An organic meeting between vocal samples, improvisation, timbre research on acoustic instruments, sound textures, extended techniques, non-Western sounds and field recordings. In addition to the concert, the program for the day of 28th September also includes a photography workshop with Pino Miraglia and the cultural-naturalistic itinerary “Walking among olive groves”, a typical cultivation of the hilly part of the municipality of Massa Lubrense. Grand finale in San Giorgio a Cremano with Teresa De Sio. The Neapolitan singer-songwriter and writer will be the protagonist of a double event: in addition to the concert scheduled for 20.30:2019 pm at Villa Vannucchi, in fact, she will collect the Ethnos Award 19, at XNUMX pm at the Villa Bruno Library.
Established three years ago to recognize artists, intellectuals and writers who have best interpreted the spirit of tradition through contamination and social change, the Ethnos Prize has been awarded in previous editions of the festival to Peppe Barra (in 2016), to the French-Moroccan writer Tahar Ben Jelloun (in 2017) and last year to the South African activist Ndileka Mandela, granddaughter of the first Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela.
“Folk beyond Folk could be the title of a book or a film. Instead, it is the recognized path of an artist, a woman from the South, who has always passionately claimed her origins from Campania and as a southern brigand,” explains the artistic director of the festival Gigi Di Luca. “An award for the continuous search for a diversity of sound that has led De Sio to explore other sounds while at the same time tracing the way back.”
Teresa De Sio will bring to the stage from 20.30:XNUMX pm for the closing of the XXIV edition of Ethnos a concert inspired in large part by her latest work “Puro Desiderio”. Accompanying her on the stage of the Villa Vannucchi arena will be six extraordinary musicians and multi-instrumentalists: Francesco Santalucia (keyboards, direction), Antonio Ragosta (guitars), Marco Bartaccioni (pedal steel, guitars), Pasquale Angelini (drums), Vittorio Longobardi (bass), Giovanni Astorino (cello, sint, percussion).
The Ethnos festival is conceived by La Bazzarra, organized by the Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano, financed by the Campania Region, with the collaboration of the municipalities present in the project and local associations.
All scheduled events are free to enter until seats are filled.

A night of drug checks in San Giorgio a Cremano, where Carabinieri officers from the local station arrested a 20-year-old local man for possession with intent to sell narcotics. San Giorgio a Cremano – There's no resignation, but rather a clear and determined anger among the citizens who took to the streets to protest the opening of the animal incinerator. The demonstration saw the "No to the Incinerator Committee" march alongside volunteer associations and political forces to Piazza Carlo di Borbone, the city's institutional heart,…
In San Giorgio a Cremano, the intuition of two off-duty Carabinieri officers disrupted a drug dealing operation in the heart of the city center. The officers had approached a group of young people when a 27-year-old man, already known to law enforcement, recognized them and tried to quickly run away. The attempt was futile: the Carabinieri caught up with him and stopped him, proceeding with a check.
The search yielded 15 grams of hashish, already divided into doses and ready for sale. The search continued at the man's home, where another 8 grams of the same substance, a precision scale, and packaging materials were found.
