Facebook is acquiring Ctrl-Labs, a startup researching the possibility of enabling devices to interact with our thoughts. Facebook Vice President Andrew Bosworth, who specializes in virtual and augmented reality, announced the news in a post on the social network. "The ultimate vision of this work is a bracelet that gives people the ability to control their devices, as a natural extension of movement. It could change the way we connect," Bosworth explained on Facebook. Ctrl-Labs was founded in 2015 by neuroscientists Thomas Reardon, co-founder of the Internet Explorer browser, and Patrick Kaifosh. It produces a bracelet capable of transmitting electrical impulses from the brain to a computer. According to CNBC, which spoke with people familiar with the deal, Facebook paid between $500 million and $1 billion for the company. The startup will join the Facebook Reality Labs team.
