In a press release, the civic coalition "Together for Scafati"—Russo, Ambrunzo, Carotenuto, and Grimaldi—highlights some critical issues surrounding what Prime Minister Mario Santocchio calls #ACTS OF GOOD ADMINISTRATION. The case concerns the forced collection of taxes that the current administration intends to hand over to the Revenue Agency. "Together for Scafati" wants to clarify the situation:
“The Municipal Administration has decided to bring to the attention of the Municipal Council the assignment of the forced collection to the Revenue Agency – Collections (formerly Equitalia), without however showing the draft agreement and the conditions of assignment. The choice to delegate the decision to the Council, rather than taking it in the Executive as is usual, already appears singular.
But what best describes the umpteenth mess of this administration, after the vaunted desire to bring the management of taxes back within the institution, is the fact that it has not been possible to organize the service in its entirety, while strong doubts also exist on ordinary management. It remains clear, we want to reiterate, that the few employees obviously have no responsibility in this regard. We are concerned about the inconveniences that citizens will be forced to face, as they will not have a counter in the municipality of Scafati to discuss their positions, but will have to go to the Revenue Agency - former Equitalia in Salerno. With the complication, moreover, that the Revenue Agency will provide clarifications only on the notice issued by it but not on the act of the municipality for which the taxpayer will be "bounced" between the municipal offices and those of the Agency. It is also true that the costs for the Municipality will decrease but at the price of increasing the costs borne by the citizen who will be charged a part of the fee of the Revenue Agency. And in doubtful cases, of course, the Revenue Agency does not wait but proceeds with administrative seizures and foreclosures anyway. Certainly not a positive way to open a dialogue with the taxpaying citizen after the Geset management. For these reasons we are firmly against this assignment.
Just as we express concern about the 2014 role review, which envisages a possible damage for the Authority of over 6 million euros, and for which it is not clear who, when and how will be called to carry it out.
