The Fondazione Ente Ville Vesuviane is participating for the third consecutive year in the international event of the European Heritage Days, which will take place on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
This is the largest participatory cultural event in Europe. The initiative was launched in 1985 by the Council of Europe and became a joint action in 1999 in collaboration with the European Union. The result is an extraordinary collective narrative that captures the richness and widespread nature of cultural heritage: from the most well-known of the great museums to the lesser-known highlights that almost every city can boast of and should promote.
This year's GePs are inspired by the theme "One, two, three... Art! Culture and entertainment" and represent an opportunity to reflect on the well-being that comes from cultural experiences and the benefits that enjoying cultural heritage can bring in terms of enjoyment, sharing, experimentation, and escape.
From this premise are born the two Paths of Knowledge in the Vesuvian Villas that will take place respectively on the evening of Saturday 21 September at Villa delle Ginestre in Torre del Greco and on the morning of Sunday 22 September in the seaside Park of Villa Favorita in Ercolano. Two cultural walks to discover places and traditions far away in time but that are praying signs in the territory that are just waiting to be heard.
Below is the program of the Knowledge Paths:
Saturday 21 September, 18 pm
“Words in Motion. A historical-literary walk from Villa Clotilde to Villa delle Ginestre” An evening dedicated to narrative in motion along a path that takes us to the ancient property of the Ferrigni family at the foot of Vesuvius. Starting from Villa Clotilde (Parco Ticino – Contrada Leopardi), the visit winds through homes, places and voices until reaching Villa delle Ginestre, the culmination of the story and the walk. All accompanied by poetic-musical interludes that will make the experience even more evocative. Entrance fee: €3,00 – reservations required.
Sunday 22 September, 10 pm
“Words in play. The Prince's rides”. On Sunday morning, the seaside park of Villa Favorita tells its story through an interesting guided tour of what in the 800th century was an immense amusement park for the entertainment of the Bourbon court. The various stops along the route will tell us about rides, games and entertainment, catapulting us into a historical moment in which in Ercolano people experienced the high life and European style of life, all supported by illustrative material and the collaboration of the kids
of local high schools. Free admission – reservations required

Ercolano - A meticulously planned operation, a potentially multi-million dollar haul, and a race against time to prevent vital drugs from ending up in the "black hole" of the black market. The operation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Ercolano station, coordinated by prosecutor Gennaro Damiano della…
A day among Roman streets, frescoed houses, and unique artifacts, without paying an admission fee. On Sunday, February 1st, the Herculaneum Archaeological Park is participating in "domenicalmuseo," the Ministry of Culture's initiative that opens state museums and archaeological parks to the public free of charge every first Sunday of the month.
For an entire day, visitors and tourists will be able to freely enter the ancient city buried by the eruption of Vesuvius, strolling along the cardini and decumani and discovering some of the site's iconic sites. These include the Boat Pavilion, which illustrates the close relationship between Herculaneum and the sea through boats and relics of maritime life, and the Antiquarium, which houses extraordinary everyday objects, such as the famous charred wood and the exquisite Herculaneum Gold.
Ercolano – A decisive response from the authorities against the black market in pets. Following the recent seizure of an illegal dog breeding farm in Ercolano, the regional councilor for animal welfare, Fiorella Zabatta, expressed strong condemnation, calling the incident "an extremely serious matter that strikes the public conscience." The operation, conducted by the Guardia…
