“During an inspection carried out by the Greens of Ischia with the head of OIPA Carmela Senatore, a cave of horrors was discovered in the Cretaio area, in Casamicciola Terme. Inside the cave, rabbit carcasses were found, and probably also cats. The Carabinieri and the Veterinary ASL were immediately alerted and intervened on site, not directly accessible due to the risk of landslides. The critical situation was also made known to the municipal administration which will have to provide for the remediation of the area”. This was announced by the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the commissioner of Sole che Ride for the island of Ischia Mariarosaria Urraro. “Unfortunately – add Borrelli and Urraro – on the island there are numerous illegal rabbit farms that are not subjected to veterinary checks and are subject to do-it-yourself treatments. It is necessary to shed light on this phenomenon which, among other things, represents a risk to public health. We will continue to monitor the area and ensure that the cave is effectively reclaimed."
