Yesterday morning, the “Master Plan” for the Domitian-Phlegraean coast was presented in Castel Volturno, in the presence of President De Luca. The result of this first phase of programming, which lasted about two years, is contained in strategic guidelines aimed at sustainable development and full valorization of the naturalistic, landscape, cultural and identity resources of the coastal strip, about 73 km from Pozzuoli to Garigliano. A second phase of elaboration of the public and private project proposals will now begin, which will constitute the Integrated Program of regeneration and valorization for the entire area.
Bitterness and disappointment were expressed by the two M5S Councilors of Pozzuoli, Antonio Caso and Domenico Critelli, for the little attention given to the city territory: «We had many expectations for Pozzuoli and in particular for the Cuma-Licola area, but we must note, unfortunately, the absolute marginality of our territory in this preliminary “planning” phase.
We were hoping for ideas and solutions that could finally restore dignity and value to a coastline full of historical and naturalistic riches, which for too many decades has been left in total abandonment both from an environmental and urban and social point of view. Not only a lack of solutions but also a lack of a simple analysis of the heavy problems and critical issues present. For example, the problem of the canals/rivers that massacre our coast, the presence of the purifier and its mouth on one of the most beautiful beaches of the coast have been completely ignored. Yet Mayor Figliolia and the Councilor for Urban Planning, Roberto Gerundo, have often promoted this intervention as the solution to all the ills of Licola and our director of urban planning was even coordinator of the Master Plan. What can I say: the usual promises and chatter to which they have long accustomed us, unfortunately.
The two pentastellati councilors conclude with an appeal: "Let's go beyond the political controversy. We ask that we all intervene together, majority and opposition, associations and citizens to try to give the due and necessary attention to the redevelopment and regeneration of the Cuma-Licola coastline. We cannot let this opportunity slip away."
