Mario Invernizzi was injured. RIP”. This was written on Facebook by Giampaolo Montavoci, national president of the Offshore and Endurance Commission of the Italian Motorboat Federation. The other two victims, Montevoci also reported, are two English pilots – their names are not known at the moment -. Another Italian pilot, Mario Invernizzi, was seriously injured in the accident and taken to hospital. The powerful vessel, about twenty meters long and with engines that allow it to reach maximum speeds of 70 knots (about 130 km/h), had left Monte Carlo yesterday morning, around 11, and was attempting to beat the record for the crossing. When it crashed it was already close to the finish line, at the Lido.
