The Forestry Carabinieri of the Cites Unit of Naples and of the Anti-poaching Operations Section of the Cites Group have reported a 55-year-old with no criminal record from Teverola.
During a search of his home, the military found numerous species of native birds captured without authorization and using illegal methods.
Seized 2 siskins, 2 chaffinches, 4 jays, 9 goldfinches, 1 blackcap, 3 serins, 5 blackbirds, 1 quail, 1 redstart, 5 turtle doves, 1 blue rock thrush, 1 great tit, 1 magpie and 1 bullfinch. Also found and seized were 18 trap cages and 3 nets for bird trapping with fixing material.
The specimens found were entrusted to the wild animal recovery center of the ASL of Naples. The 55-year-old will have to answer for receiving stolen goods (wild fauna is considered unavailable property of the State, ed.) and keeping animals in conditions incompatible with their nature.
