Ribbon cutting at the new municipal sports hall in Giugliano, the structure in the Casacelle district was opened to the city on Saturday evening with an event that saw the involvement of hundreds of young athletes who demonstrated their skills in the disciplines that will be practised at the new sports house managed by the Giugliano sports centre of Marco and Gianni Ciccarelli. Mayor Antonio Poziello hosted the event, with special guest Edoardo De Laurentiis, vice-president of Calcio Napoli. With them, the vicar forane Don Angelo Parisi. Kung Fu, Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, Figure Skating, Handball, Basketball, Dance, Volleyball, the sports offering of the new sports hall is as wide as ever.
The goal is to make the Palazzetto a place for gatherings and events. We had to deal with companies that had gone bankrupt when we arrived, work that was unfinished or poorly done, changes requested by other entities to work that had already been completed and, consequently, with the need to restart the construction site after we thought it was all over. We had to defend the sports hall from vandals and thieves, who tried to destroy it dozens of times. It is impossible to explain how long it took, how much this moment cost us,” concludes the mayor. “But on Saturday everything was behind us: the sports hall was full of young and old, athletes and music, colors and lights.
