"You have to be a real scoundrel to burn flowers in memory of Mario Cerciello Rega. You offend the Carabinieri and the memory. But you won't succeed: we will keep Mario's memory alive forever." This was declared by Undersecretary Carlo Sibilia on Twitter.
The photo and flowers that were placed in the place where the carabiniere was killed in via Pietro Cossa in Rome, caught fire yesterday evening. From an initial reconstruction by the carabinieri who intervened on site, the flames were caused by some candles that had been left in front of the photo after the torchlight procession in memory of Mario Cerciello Rega organized by the Sim (Italian military carabinieri union). The procession, starting from Piazza Farnese, ended in Piazza dei Monti della Pietà. The fire self-extinguished. The carabinieri of the San Pietro company were on site.
