"We are concerned about the air quality in the Avellino area due to the black smoke generated by the fire at a plastics factory. We have sent a note to ARPAC requesting that they obtain the results of the air quality analyses following the fire. We want to have a precise understanding of the quantity of toxic elements dispersed into the air." This was announced by Green Party regional councilor Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Pellegrini Palmieri, spokesperson for the newspaper Il Sole che Ride in Avellino. "Unfortunately," Borrelli and Palmieri added, "we are once again faced with events of this kind. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The only certainty is that, between the fire that affected a hazardous waste depot in Battipaglia and the ongoing fires affecting the Land of Fires, critical issues continue to emerge that are causing a deterioration in air quality in our areas."
