In the context of environmental protection activities and more specifically monitoring
of the Marine Protected Area “Regno di Nettuno”, the divers of the 2nd Sub Nucleus of the Coast Guard
of Naples carried out an operational mission in the waters of the Maritime District of Ischia.
The activity initially focused on verifying the protection status of zone A (integral reserve) of the Secca Delle Catene, where the underwater operators carried out some surveys.
On the sidelines of the activity, the Coast Guard divers carried out, at the request of the Maritime District Office, checks inside the Port of Ischia.
The dives were aimed at verifying the presence of any unregistered discharges flowing into the port basin. During the checks, which extended over a good part of the port perimeter, it was also necessary to take some samples, which were promptly sent for analysis to ascertain the nature of the wastewater itself.
