The redundancy fund expires on Tuesday, September 24. And there is also the dismissal procedure for 350 of the 706 workers at the site. The situation at Jabil Circuit Italia in Marcianise, a US multinational telecommunications company, is truly very worrying. And the two days of negotiations (Thursday 5 and Friday 6), called after a period of intense worker mobilization, where a substantial rift between the company and the unions was recorded, have led to nothing. A workers' meeting is scheduled for today (Wednesday, September 11) at the plant, where new initiatives to be undertaken will be decided.
“The resumption of the discussion suspended late Friday evening did not produce the desired agreement between the parties,” commented Francesco Percuoco, general secretary of the territorial Fiom Cgil: “We reiterated, in order to avoid the dramatic social impact, the need to withdraw the dismissal procedure and use an additional six months of extraordinary redundancy pay that must be authorized by the Ministry of Labor. In the meantime, it is necessary to provide for a voluntary and incentivized exodus, together with a qualifying reindustrialization process for workers to be addressed in a specific meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development.”
The company maintains, instead, that the redundancies reported in the collective dismissal procedure (started on June 24), without prejudice to the granting of the extension in derogation of the redundancy fund by the Ministry of Labor, can find a concrete possibility of management only through a forced re-employment program or a voluntary exodus. An approach that the unions have rejected. They have therefore arrived at the drafting of separate documents, while a new negotiating table has not yet been set.
