Five people were heard at the hearing before Judge De Santis at the Santa Maria Capua Vetere courthouse, where the manslaughter trial is underway for the death of Gerardina Palla, a school assistant at the Righi vocational school in Santa Maria Capua Vetere. These five witnesses were present the day the woman fell from the school window. The impact was so violent that the 52-year-old woman was hospitalized, where she died a few days later from a cerebral edema. Alfonsina Corvino, originally from Casal di Principe but resident in the city where the court is located, and the school's principal (represented by attorney Montone), and Anna Maria De Stadio, from Alvignano, the school's security manager, are on trial for this death. The five testified that they saw the assistant climb onto a chair to clean the windows on several occasions; one witness said he saw her just minutes before she fell after hearing a cry for help. The hearing was then adjourned until December to hear additional witnesses. The victim's family joined the trial as civil parties, with lawyers Natalina Mastellone, Domenico Pigrini, and Giuseppe Cipullo.
