The relevance of Gianni Rodari at the Literary Award A City That Writes

The city of Casalnuovo di Napoli is preparing to celebrate Gianni Rodari's 100th birthday.
A special section of the Una Città Che Scrive Literary Award, founded by the association “Una Città Che…” and Giovanni Nappi, will be dedicated to Rodari’s topicality and creativity. The initiative will be presented on October 4th at 19.00:148 p.m. at the Giacomo Leopardi Social Library, in Via Roma XNUMX, a private side street in Casalnuovo.
The celebration of Gianni Rodari's 100th birthday comes after the extraordinary success of the latest exhibition hosted by the Biblioteca Sociale, “Una Città Che Scrive a… L'Infinito”, with the display of the autograph of L'Infinito, Leopardi's most famous poem, which turned 2019 in 200.
The Una Città Che Scrive Literary Award has registered over 5 thousand participants in recent years, coming from all over Italy. Among the ordinary sections of the competition there has always been the “School – free theme” one.
For the 2020 edition, which will expire in May of next year, the “School” section will be, in fact, named after “Gianni Rodari” and the theme will be “Short stories and nursery rhymes for children and teenagers, inspired by the creativity of the great writer”.
Children, school-age children and teachers of all levels can participate.
Another noteworthy initiative of the Biblioteca Sociale Giacomo Leopardi will be the purchase of all the works of Gianni Rodari, which will be made available to the City through the “loan”, which can also be requested online on the association's website.
