The magistrates investigating the death of Lucia Ferrara, the 17-year-old from Cava De' Tirreni who died after heart surgery at Ruggi have ordered a new test, in 30 days, to be performed specifically on the young woman's heart. The new test will serve to understand if Lucia should have been operated on urgently and what made the second surgery necessary, the fatal one, and what went wrong in the first surgery to the point of making a second one necessary.
Four doctors are registered as suspects: three heart surgeons and a resuscitator from the hospital on Via San Leonardo. After an initial hospitalization at SM dell'Olmo di Cava, Lucia was transferred to Salerno for a consultation. Hence the decision to operate on her to replace a mitral valve. A first operation was followed by a second, but two days later the young woman died. Hence the family's complaint and the investigation. In the meantime, this morning the funeral of the 17-year-old took place in the church of Dragonea.
