The XIV edition of the prestigious Masaniello Award, dedicated to Neapolitan Protagonists, will be held on September 28th. The award ceremony, on the initiative of President Luigi Rispoli and Artistic Director Umberto Franzese, will take place at the Teatro Sannazaro in Naples starting at 20:XNUMX pm.
The Masaniello Award has now become a consolidated event in Neapolitan culture and carries out an in-depth work of reconnaissance, revisiting facts, and creations that have occurred over time, placing protagonists who are often little-known or known only to a limited number of people in the spotlight.
For the section “Napoli infinitamente Napoli” this year the soprano Olga De Maio and the tenor Luca Lupoli will receive the Award, for their great merit in spreading opera and bel canto, a historical and artistic heritage not only in the city of Naples and in Campania but also throughout Italy.
The pair of artists, known to national and international audiences, as well as voices of the glorious Teatro San Carlo, are always committed to the promotion and diffusion of bel canto, opera and classical Neapolitan song, through formats they have created and created such as Luoghi Storici e Musica, Atmosfere da Sogno, Passeggiate Liberty e Bel Canto, Bel Canto al Castello.
With their historic Cultural Association Noi per Napoli, of which they are representatives and exponents, active for 27 years in the field of culture, music, art and social issues not only in Naples but also nationally and internationally, the two musical artists set themselves the goal of promoting knowledge of the immense historical, musical and bel canto heritage that made the city of Naples one of the European musical and cultural capitals in the 700th century in the more or less known historical sites.
After an intense summer tour that saw them as protagonists together with the tenor Lucio Lupoli, from L'Estate a Napoli 2019”, at the Maschio Angioino with their lyrical recitals entitled Bel Canto al Castello, Gia' la luna in mezzo al mare, Le Stelle della lirica, in the Campi Flegrei Regional Park, at the Garden of Palazzo del Trono in Cetraro (CS), the duo was the protagonist on September 15 at the Maschio Angioino in Naples for a gala evening dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the celebrations of the Estate a Napoli. An event with illustrious figures from the world of entertainment and culture such as Mariano Rigillo, Giacomo Rizzo, Gianfranco Gallo, Ermanno Corsi, dean of Neapolitan journalism, in which the consolidated artistic duo received great acclaim, success and appreciation.
In these events the artists performed in a lyric trio formation, innovatively formed by two tenors and a soprano, with a repertoire dedicated to the great tradition of Italian and Neapolitan bel canto that starts from the Romanza da Salotto of the 800th and 900th centuries, passing through the melodrama of Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini and operetta, arriving at the songs of the Neapolitan lyric tradition.
The wave of prestigious awards for the Neapolitan duo will continue in December with the prestigious “Remigio Paone” Award 2019, dedicated to the figure of the well-known director, producer and theatrical director born in Formia in Lazio in the homonymous theater.
Among the upcoming projects that will see De Maio and Lupoli as protagonists, creators and artistic directors, there will be the Immaculate Conception Concert on December 8, 2019 and the New Year's Concert 2019.
The Immaculate Conception Concert will be held in the historic Sala del Vasari in the Monumental Complex of Sant'Anna dei Lombardi in Naples, with the Patronage of the Presidency of the Regional Council of Campania and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Naples.
The 1th Edition of the Historicized New Year's Concert on January 2020, XNUMX will be held at the Teatro Delle Palme in Naples, which this year will have as its "extraordinary testimonial" and extraordinary guest the actor Giacomo Rizzo.
For the public, it will, as always, be a true journey into the world of music, singing and dancing, with famous Viennese melodies, Strauss waltzes, famous opera and operetta pieces and passionate classical Neapolitan songs, in the scenic setting of a particular fin de siecle period salon, where guests and artists will welcome the new year in the name of music, bel canto and dance.
It will once again be a great show with a noble heart since a part of the proceeds will be donated, as every year, for the purchase of food and basic necessities for the Caritas soup kitchen for the homeless in Santa Chiara in Naples.
