The Court of Naples (Section IV, Panel C), following the ordinary trial of alleged members of the Di Lauro clan, convicted eleven defendants, among the approximately one hundred individuals subject to the massive pre-trial detention order issued in 2013 against the Secondigliano Camorra organization. The judge handed down a total of 97 years in prison. Two defendants were acquitted, including Valentina Licciardi, charged with conspiracy to traffic narcotics and two counts of cocaine distribution, for which the DDA had requested a 14-year prison sentence. Licciardi, represented by lawyer Nicola Pomponio, was acquitted on the grounds of not having committed the crime. The judges also cleared the leaders Giuseppe De Luca, known as Peppe 'a scarola, and Giovanni Bellone of the charge of being the organization's chief promoters. Here are the detailed sentences handed down to the eleven defendants: Giuseppe De Luca, 16 years continuously; Giovanni Bellone, 14 years; Gennaro Balsamo, known as "o'scheletro," 13 years and 4 months continuously; Anna Matuozzo, 12 years and 6 months; Raffaele Chiummo and Giuseppe De Martino, 10 years; Gianmarco Magliozzi, 7 years; Angela Di Marzo and Carmine Del Medico, 6 years; Giuseppina Puddu, 5 years; Carmela Giordano, known as Melania, 3 years. Many of the defendants are at liberty.
