Naples. A security guard got into an argument outside the Villa Betania hospital in Naples and was slapped by a person (immediately identified by police) who was awaiting a medical report. The security guard was treated in the emergency room of the same hospital and was deemed recoverable in three days. For Giuseppe Alviti, president of the national association of private security guards, today's incident demonstrates that "institutions must act as soon as possible. And we need to act on two fronts." "The first is to strengthen law enforcement," says Alviti, "but also to strengthen the presence of security guards. The second is to initiate a process that will lead to the recognition of a different legal status for guards, at least during work shifts." (Carlo Landolfi)
