Naples. A group of young people from Materdei are working hard to help their neighborhood. So far, no institution has helped them, but despite everything, they are continuing and today they are cleaning up and beautifying the Materdei gardens. They are the young people from the "Giovani Promesse" association. "We chose to implement the first of a series of initiatives in the Materdei neighborhood," they explain in a statement. "Giovani Promesse is an association founded with the aim of revitalizing, first and foremost, the Materdei neighborhood, where most of the young people involved come from, and then the city of Naples. We are convinced that our city is in great difficulty, but we are also certain that institutions alone cannot address all of its problems. This is where our desire to help others comes in.
The event we have decided to organize consists of cleaning up Piazza Scipione Ammirato, home to the Materdei Metro station, which is currently in a state of degradation with weeds growing visibly, garbage on the ground and overflowing garbage bins.
The goal is, in addition to making the square more liveable, to raise awareness among the citizens of our neighborhood about caring for public spaces. To organize this activity we also involved people who live in the buildings facing the square who, like us, consider our station a source of pride for the neighborhood. It is worth mentioning that Materdei was designated by the “Daily Telegraph” as the sixteenth most beautiful subway station in Europe”.
