“Napoli knew how to suffer, but that shouldn’t happen. Today we shouldn’t have conceded a goal, luckily we didn’t concede a second. You can’t suffer like this. We ran a bit backwards and not forwards in the second half, but in the first we played well”. These are the words of Napoli striker Dries Mertens at the end of the match won against Brescia 2-1 at the San Paolo, in which the Belgian broke the deadlock by scoring his 114th goal in the Azzurri shirt, one less than Diego Armando Maradona: “Reach Maradona’s number of goals?
