Naples. Whirlpool workers march in Naples. Workers at the Via Argine plant are marching because they fear negative consequences for their future employment following the American multinational's announcement that it will sell its Campania industrial site to the Swiss company PRS. The protesters set out from Piazza Mancini, near the Piazza Garibaldi train station, and the march, after crossing Corso Umberto, is headed to Piazza Municipio. Marching in blue overalls are union representatives and Naples Mayor Luigi de Magistris, who has repeatedly expressed solidarity with the workers and publicly requested a meeting with the new Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli. Also taking part in the march is a delegation of Campania's navigators, who for months have been calling on the Campania Region to sign an agreement with ANPAL (National Agency for the Employment of Workers) to allow them to begin work and be hired after passing the qualification tests.
