Naples. The Carabinieri of the Naples Marianella Station, at the conclusion of a complex and detailed investigative activity coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples, have executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP at the Neapolitan Court, against 10 individuals already known to the police for the crimes of robbery, possession and illegal possession of a firearm, kidnapping and burglary.
Today's measures arise from an investigation launched after a violent home robbery committed against an entrepreneur in September last year in the San Carlo Arena neighborhood. The investigative activity has made it possible to document the operations of a criminal group dedicated to robberies and home burglaries, committed between September and December 2018, in various neighborhoods of Naples and in the cities of Afragola and Marcianise. Some members of the organization (4 individuals) had already been hit by a similar precautionary measure on January 23rd at the end of a first strand of the investigation: they were believed to be the perpetrators of 3 armed robberies, two homes and one against a betting shop.
The investigations following the first arrests led to the identification of 6 other members of the criminal association against whom evidence of guilt emerged in relation to the commission of a burglary and 3 robberies (one of which was foiled thanks to the intervention of a Carabinieri patrol).
In detail, the home burglary was perpetrated in the apartment of the neighbor of one of the members of the group. In this circumstance, to delay the victim's return home, the criminals had punctured the tires of his car. The two robberies, however, were perpetrated against the owner of a bar in Scampia and an employee of a betting center in the same neighborhood. The third robbery, the attempted one, had been planned inside a home in Marcianise.
In this case, a hairdressing salon employee had suggested to the robbers a particularly wealthy customer as a possible victim. The woman had been followed for many days, her daily habits studied. However, the criminal intent of the group was nipped in the bud. They too were being followed, but by the Carabinieri. Stopped and arrested before they could take action, their material was entirely seized: gloves, balaclavas, wristbands and a toy gun, a faithful reproduction of a real weapon. The investigations also prevented the gang members from carrying out further thefts and robberies in homes.
