Walking around the city it is inevitable to notice the state of degradation in which the urban greenery finds itself: desolate squares of grass that have become shelters for rats, containers for waste and weeds. Dirt on the streets and avenues due to stray dogs and not only. Yes, because the ones who should be picking up the dog waste of four-legged friends are their owners. Something more unique than rare in a civil society that looks to the future, projected into a tourist reality that today seems like a mirage. Situations, attitudes that are reported daily on social media by users who love their city. Issues of urban decorum, care of the environment that would contribute to presenting a noteworthy business card to tourists and people passing by. When the municipal machine does not work, maintenance is prohibitive for the coffers, the citizen or rather the entrepreneur takes care of making the landscape active and enjoyable. This is the case of Naples. In the city of Naples, Giancarlo Fimiani, a Neapolitan entrepreneur and founder of R-Store, an Italian premium apple reseller with sixteen points of sale and assistance in Campania, is committed to taking care of the public green areas from Piazza San Pasquale to Villa Pignatelli in the Chiaia district for the next three years, thanks to an agreement signed between Dr. De Giovanni, President of Municipality 1, Dr. Massimo Formati, head of green areas of Municipality 1, and Engineer Salvatore Annona of R-Store. The best living room of Naples should be subjected to maintenance work that should involve the care of flowerbeds, lawns, and floral installations. A dual-purpose initiative that would restore decorum to the city, life to degraded areas, and contribute to individual, social and environmental well-being. Since 2011, the Municipality of Naples has promoted the initiative “Adopt a flowerbed” which allows the maintenance of urban green areas by third parties, in order to safeguard the territory and activate citizen participation. To date, there are approximately 300 associations, schools, shops, institutions or private citizens who take cure of the small green lungs. However, many have also given up over the years. The main reasons are related to the lack of civic sense of the citizens, the presence of homeless people who in many areas camp out among the flower beds, acts of vandalism, to the detriment of everything and everyone.
