Nocera. Deputy Commissioner Luigi Amato of the Nocera Inferiore police station, who was injured in the arm this morning during arrests as part of the investigation into clashes between fans from Nocerina and Foggia, has been given a ten-day jail sentence. The brother of one of the two fans arrested for the disturbances at the stadium attacked him. The young man, under 30, allegedly attempted to resist the arrest of his relative. When taken to the police station, he also allegedly refused to be photographed, lunging at an officer, causing injuries that will heal in three days. He was found guilty of resisting arrest and assaulting a public officer and taken to prison in Salerno. Investigators believe the other two arrested were involved in the disturbances between fans that occurred last Sunday. The two men are a 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. The former, with no criminal record, allegedly threw stones at police and the Apulian fans, and then attacked officers and opposing supporters. The latter, already known to law enforcement for crimes against the person and sexual assault, is accused of participating in the stone-throwing. Both men have been placed under house arrest. The investigation, even after today's arrests, continues vigorously. Police officers from Nocera Inferiore, with the assistance of their colleagues from Salerno and Foggia, are combing through video surveillance footage to try to identify the other troublemakers who sowed panic both outside the San Francesco stadium before the match and along Via Nazionale in Nocera Superiore on the return journey of the Apulian fans. Meanwhile, Nocerina Football Club, in a statement from president Paolo Maiorino, distanced itself from the incident. "I hope," said the club's president, "for a speedy recovery for the law enforcement officers injured in the clashes. We dissociate ourselves from any form of violence and are confident in the prompt intervention of the relevant authorities."
