Twelve thousand euros has been raised for "Expert for Life," the 3-kilometer non-competitive walk promoted by the "United for Life" association, whose president is Angela Carbone, a young woman from Nola. The announcement was made yesterday morning to the doctors at the Breast Unit at Naples' Cardarelli Hospital, to whom the donation will be donated. This significant sum is the result of the commitment and solidarity of over two thousand people who purchased the kit, which included a backpack, T-shirt, hat, bracelet, and information material. Orange was also the color chosen for this second edition. The start yesterday morning was a long procession from Piazza Duomo, which, after passing through various locations in the historic center, converged at the Church of the Holy Apostles. There, in the presence of doctors from the Breast Unit, a center of excellence in Southern Italy for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, the milestone was announced.
"I am happy, thanks to those who made all this possible, starting with Expert Parente - comments Angela Carbone - This is an initiative that comes from a true story, mine. I fought with all my strength against cancer and even if I am still undergoing treatment, my commitment to raising awareness of prevention continues. Today I am here to represent all those women who are living a particular moment in their lives but also for those friends who did not make it and who I saw leave this life prematurely ".
The objectives: the donation that will be made to the Breast Unit of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples will serve, as the doctors explained, to cover a scholarship for the presence of a psychologist in the center. A figure necessary for the emotional support of the patients but also of the families and the staff who work there. Last year the initiative, which reached eight thousand euros, allowed the support of a dietician.
"Figures like these - the doctors say - are indispensable in our center because they allow us to monitor the health status of patients who constantly need care but above all an adequate diet as well as moral support is of considerable importance to face the long and not easy journey. Thanks to the people of Nola and to Angela for all the love and tenacity".
