'I won't rent you a house because you're from the South', shock audio

“For me, southerners are southerners even in the 4000s, southerners, blacks and Roma are all the same, I am one hundred percent racist”: this is what a 28-year-old woman from Puglia who was refused a house to rent in Robbeccheto con Induno, in the province of Milan, was told. The young woman posted on social media the audios she received from the landlady who, faced with the possibility of spreading them, replied “please write and publish that I am a Salvinian, I am with Matteo, with the captain”.
The story is told in full by the girl on Facebook: “This is what happens. I decide to move to my girlfriend’s town in the province of Milan. I look for a house to rent, I find it and I fall in love with it. I make an agreement with the landlady, a girl, to start the contract in October. Fifteen days before the start of the contract, the girl sends me a message telling me that the start of the contract is postponed by a month, making unbelievable excuses. Later I receive another message from the girl telling me that she can no longer give me the house to rent because she prefers to sell it. I reply telling her that I don’t think it’s right to change the cards on the table at the last minute and that the agreements were different. In all of this, the girl’s mother intervenes and contacts me. The reason why I am not given the house to rent is because I was born in Foggia. WHAT, you will say. Exactly. Debora attaches audio of the landlady to her post, concluding “Welcome to today’s Italy where, apparently, we should take out signs that say “We do not rent to southerners” because, evidently, they have not yet gone out of fashion”. The message posted by Deborah is the same as her girlfriend, Laura, who the 28-year-old thanks “for finding the right words to tell my story. I am not capable of doing so at the moment”. In the published audio, the lady can be clearly heard saying things like: “For me, southerners are always southerners, even in the 4000s, not just in the 2000s. Southerners, blacks, Roma are all the same. Look, I am truly 100% racist”, “what matters is what is written on the identity card, it is not a Swiss, it is a southerner, it is different”
