"From Tuesday evening until the early hours of Wednesday morning we carried out a night patrol in the Terra dei Fuochi area. Accompanied by the journalist and activist Pino Grazioli, an expert on the phenomenon, we explored the agricultural areas of Caserta up to Giugliano. Kilometers and kilometers of unlit country roads, invaded by waste of all kinds piled up along the edge, a few meters from the agricultural land. During the inspection we were able to ascertain that, in addition to waste materials and special waste, there was also traditional waste, demonstrating the incivility that, in some cases, accompanies criminal phenomena". This was announced by the regional councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the manager of Waste of Sole che Ride Enzo Vasquez. "While we were near the areas affected by the phenomenon we were able to ascertain that, in some cases, the ground continues to smoke even when there is nothing burning on the surface. This shows how that land is tormented by toxic fires, so much so that it is completely permeated by them. Our activity of reporting the phenomenon in institutional offices will continue without stopping, as will our stimulus to reach concrete and effective solutions. However, we ask citizens for a hand. The extension of the area and the critical issues related to the control of the territory require collaboration. Anyone who is aware of any criminal or incivilized phenomenon should quickly alert the authorities. Only by reporting will it be possible to defeat this evil that infects our land and arrest the criminals who poison us. We also invite everyone to contribute to the night-time control work of the volunteers who report the fires and to use the Sma Campania app to geolocalize the fires, allowing the firefighters and the military to arrive quickly”.
